The Radio Amateurs of Lebanon (RAL) in association with the Lebanese Scouting Federation will be participating this weekend in the 51st Jamboree-On-The-Air (JOTA) / 12th Jamboree-On-The-Internet that will take place between 18 and19 October 2008.

Over 300 scouts from 29 scouting associations in Lebanon are expected to participate this year. JOTA will operate under OD5RAL on HF all bands and through Echolink Node: 70784 (OD5TE-R). The Amateur Radio station will be operated by Licensed Amateur Radio operators.

JOTA/JOTI is an annual event that occurs every year on the third full weekend of October where hundreds of thousands of Scouts and Guides all over the world exchange greetings, learn about each others' country and culture, swap program ideas and make new friends by means of amateur radio over the airwaves and the internet. This Jamboree-On-The-Air (JOTA) is the largest annual event for Scouts.

JOTA/JOTI start at 00.00 hours Beirut time on Saturday and concludes 48 hours later at 24.00 hours Beirut time on Sunday.

This a unique opportunity for each individual Scout to get the real feeling of belonging to a worldwide movement.
